Sale Overview

Christie’s Photographs department in New York is pleased to announce Photographs, a live auction taking place at Rockefeller Center on 6 April.  

Photographs will feature property by significant 20th century photographers including Diane Arbus, Peter Beard, Bernd and Hilla Becher, Constantin Brâncuși, Robert Mapplethorpe and Irving Penn alongside contemporary artists such as Marco Breuer, Nick Brandt, Alex Prager, Alec Soth and Hiroshi Sugimoto, among others.

Among the collections featured in Photographs will be a section of works from a private American collector with an emphasis on influential 20th century street photography by Diane Arbus, Louis Faurer, Robert Frank and others. The department is also proud to spotlight a section of works made by women photographers active in the field today.

From March 25 through April 8, Christie’s will also offer Ansel Adams and the American West, as an online auction through the Christie’s website.

Rebecca Jones is an Associate Specialist and the Head of Sale in the Photographs department in New York. In her current role, Rebecca helps source and appraise photographs for all upcoming international Photographs auctions. She oversees the research and cataloguing for all photographs confirmed for auction and private sales in New York. <br><br> Before joining Christie’s Photographs department in 2015, she served as the Archive Manager of the Peter Hujar Archive in New York. She also previously held a position as the Registrar for a prestigious private collection of Contemporary, Post-War and Modern art located across several residences throughout the world. <br><br> Rebecca holds a BA degree from The Corcoran College of Art and Design and an MA degree in Art History from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University.
