On 26 February in New York, Christie’s presents the Post‑War to Present auction — the premier platform for today’s leading artistic voices and celebrated figures of the post‑war period. The sale offers fresh perspectives on figuration and abstraction through the lens of contemporary artists such as Keith Haring, Etel Adnan and Julia Jo, alongside pioneering artists of the twentieth century, including Helen Frankenthaler, Cy Twombly and Roy Lichtenstein.
The sale is headlined by a grouping from Temple of Style: The Barbara Jakobson Collection — a vibrant and singular array of post‑war and contemporary art, design, photographs and prints and multiples. It speaks to Ms Jakobson’s lifelong dedication to collecting and championing her creative contemporaries. Leading this capsule is Jeff Koons’ Winter Bears, from his groundbreaking Banality series, presented alongside outstanding works by Josef Albers, Ed Ruscha, Diane Arbus and Charlotte Perriand.
The sale also continues the collecting stories of the Edlis | Neeson Collection, as well as property sold to benefit The Bailey Arts Foundation. It includes leading examples of Latin American art, featuring a luminous work by Olga de Amaral from the collection of Elaine Wynn and a monumental canvas by Tomás Sánchez.
Leading the spring auction season, Post‑War to Present brings together the apex of 20th‑ and 21st‑century art, offering exceptional opportunities for every collector.
