Christie’s London presents an impressive summer auction of fine wines, from Three Great Cellars.

The sale begins with The Chef’s Cellar. This is an exceptional collection of wines from a food loving, wine aficionado. The collector has put together this selection over many years and stored the wines across a range of temperature controlled cellars. The collector loves to drink wines, especially Burgundy, with innovative dishes, shared with friends.

Champagne leads, as with any good dinner, and names such as Pierre Peters, Dom Pérignon, Taittinger, Salon and Cristal feature. Burgundy is the heart of the collection with established Domaine such as Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, Domaine Rousseau, Domaine Sylvain Cathiard and Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat offered alongside on trend names such as Arnaud Ente, Cécile Tremblay, Oliver Bernstein and Dominique Laurent. The Rhône and Italy are also passions of the collector, with Château Rayas, Guigal and Château de Beaucastel featuring alongside new leading light names such as Chapelle St. Theodoric. Italy features classic vintages of Giacomo Conterno, Bartolo Mascarello, Gaja and Roberto Voerzio.

The second Great Cellar features a treasure trove of rare fine wines from the cellar of a gentleman collector. From a wine loving family, this collection speaks to a passion for wine fuelled by a deep understanding and extensive knowledge of wines. Magnums of Krug and Piere Peters are showcased, as is the rare Bollinger Vieilles Vignes Françaises and Ulysse Collin. A superb offering of Domaine Leflaive leads Burgundy, including the sought after L’Exceptionnelle Vendange des Sept Domaines Montrachet. Domaine Bonneau du Martray, Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, Domaine Trapet, Domaine Meo Camuzet and Domaine Dujac are highlights, next to two glorious collections of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Domaine Rousseau. Bordeaux sees the First Growths featured, with bottles of Le Pin, magnums of Petrus and imperials of Château La Mission Haut-Brion. A lovely offering of Château d’Yquem will thrill collectors. The Spanish and Italian section is wonderfully classical with Vega Sicilia and Pingus appearing besides Romano Dal Forno, Voerzio magnums and vintages of both Monfortino and Cascina Francia. The New World is well represented with starry names from Napa, Screaming Eagle, Kongsgaard and Dominus, alongside vintages of Ridge, Monte Bello. Rarities from Penfolds round out the superb collection.

A classic Bordeaux collection is one of our Great Cellars and features all the First Growths including Châteaux Latour and Mouton-Rothschild in bottles, double-magnums and imperials. Super Seconds such as Château Cos d’Estournel and Château Montrose continue into cases of Châteaux Pontet-Canet, La Mission Haut-Brion and Pavie. Petrus and Château Lafleur are offered in bottle and large formats. The same cellar showcases Sassicaia and Lodovico, before a superb selection of Napa rarities from Heitz Cellars, Screaming Eagle, Colgin and Abreu.

In September 2014, Noah joined Christie’s New York Wine Department, where he worked as Head of Sale, focused on building relationships with American collectors, the sourcing of rare wines and spirits for auctions in the US and Europe, sale curation and specialist wine events. In June 2018, Noah returned to Christie’s London Wine Department as Head of Department and is mainly focused on developing Christie’s Wine Department’s profile in the UK and across Europe, sourcing exceptional collections of Wines and Spirits for sale, inspection and authentication of property and building long-term relationships with collectors around the world. Noah’s professional interests include the fine wines of Burgundy, Bordeaux and Rioja, and the rare spirits market, with a focus on collectible whisky.

Charlie joined Christie’s in 2014 after working for a fine wine merchant in the City. He graduated from Newcastle University, where he achieved 1st Class Honours in Classics, specializing in the ancient wine trade in Rome and Greece. He has worked for vineyards in South Africa and Argentina and won a scholarship to attend the European Wine Bloggers Conference in Turkey and subsequently also travelled with the Conference to Rioja. He has completed his WSET Diploma and has been pleased to work on auctions at Christie’s such as the Avery Family Collection, the Cellars of the Earl of Halifax and Wines from the Malbec Family Collection.

Charlotte joined the Christie’s Wine team in London in the spring of 2018 having worked in the wine trade in London for several years. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of London and is currently studying for her WSET Diploma. Fluent in French, her professional interests include the wines of Bordeaux, Burgundy and Alsace.
