Sale Overview

Up Close brings together a curated selection of post-war and contemporary art, centered on works that reward close looking and a heightened sense of objecthood. With a particular focus on works of concentrated scale, the sale presents exceptional examples by some of the most influential and sought-after artists of the 20th and 21st centuries alongside compelling new discoveries, with highlights by Josef Albers, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Louise Bourgeois, Kerry James Marshall, Pat SteirAndy Warhol and Lucy Bull among others.

Across painting, works on paper and sculpture, the auction foregrounds materiality, surface and presence, drawing attention to the qualities that make each work singular. The sale will also present works from distinguished private collections, including Property from the Collection of Suzanne Solov and Gerald W. Labiner, Property from the Collection of Jon Gould, and Artful Ownership: Works from the Collection of Aaron M. Milrad.

With estimates ranging from US$500 to US$300,000, Up Close offers collectors the opportunity to encounter both established names and unexpected discoveries through works of distinctive character, celebrating the power and individuality of the object.

Associate Specialist | Post-War & Contemporary Art

Taylor Nemetz is an Associate Specialist in the Post-War & Contemporary Art department at Christie’s in New York. Since joining Christie’s in 2020, Taylor has developed broad expertise across the Post-War and Contemporary market, with a particular focus on contemporary art. In her current role, she works closely with collectors on consignments, appraisals and valuations, private sales, and broader collection strategy, while playing an active role in the department’s business-getting and client development initiatives. She plays an integral role on Christie’s Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale team and serves as Head of Sale for Up Close, a curated online auction dedicated to exceptional works of concentrated scale.

Prior to joining Christie’s, Taylor worked with a number of significant private art collections in the New York area, with experience spanning collections management and art advisory. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Global Liberal Studies from New York University. Taylor is particularly passionate about contemporary art and the opportunity to engage directly with the artists, ideas, and cultural conversations of her own time.

Taylor has successfully completed training in the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), facilitated by a certified AQB instructor from the Appraisers Association of America.
