Vintage champagne

Vintage champagne remains a cornerstone of fine wine collecting, valued for its rarity and prestige. Produced only in exceptional harvest years, single-vintage champagne is typically released only three or four times per decade, though there have been more frequent exceptional years in the 21st century.

Leading house such as Moët & Chandon, Krug and Dom Pérignon craft acclaimed expressions which offer immense depth and structure. The first every vintage produced by Dom Pérignon was in 1921, with three bottles realising US$24,675 at Christie’s New York in 2004. Notable 21st-century vintages include the 2008 and 2012 vintages, with the specific conditions of the production year shaping the unique character of each bottle.
