About L’Alliance New York
L’Alliance New York is the home of francophone cultures and French language: a beacon from New York to the world. An independent, American, not-for-profit organization with a Board of Trustees, L’Alliance New York is the most significant organization dedicated to the promotion of francophone cultural programming and French language education in the United States.
Located steps from New York’s Central Park, L’Alliance New York’s Manhattan Campus is located in an eight-story Beaux Arts building, featuring four floors of classrooms, a preschool, the largest private French library in the U.S, a 365-seat jewel-box theater, an art gallery, and a light-filled event space—Le Skyroom—on its top-most floor. A satellite campus is located in Montclair, New Jersey.
Each year, L’Alliance New York welcomes over 6000 students ranging in age from one to 101 for our many French classes, full-time preschool, children’s summer camps, French proficiency exams, and more. Ten thousand members and over 100,000 annual guests visit L’Alliance New York for world-class cultural programming, including weekly films, performing arts, critically-acclaimed festivals, art exhibitions, talks, tastings, and our annual Bastille Day Festival, the largest celebration of its kind in the US, welcoming over 30,000 guests on New York’s famed Madison Avenue.
Programs coming up at L’Alliance New York include a series Covering The New Yorker, an exhibition featuring exclusive artworks from The New Yorker’s 100 year history, a series of Staged Readings of classical French literature, the inaugural Comic Arts Fest, weekly films, and Family Saturdays. French classes are available year-round for students of all ages starting at age one, plus French-immersion summer camps and classes for toddlers and kids are open for registration.
