Collections auctions achieve strong results in London, Paris and New York.
The Collections sale in Paris totalled €3,868,544, with 41% of pieces sold exceeding their estimates. Chinese porcelain, Italian Old Masters and decorative arts delivered particularly strong results.
In New York, a pair of tiles from the collection of Peter Van Slyke led the results, realising $153,600 including buyer’s premium, with a hammer price 30 times the low estimate. European furniture also performed strongly, with many pieces from A Southern Hôtel Particulier by Brian J. McCarthy soaring above their estimates.
In London, Collections Including Pietra Dura from the Baron Family achieved £5,419,008. Highlights included two Florentine pietra dura plaques, each realising £230,400, a pair of Charles Rennie Mackintosh armchairs that achieved £128,000 and a set of four Régence giltwood fauteuils that realised £128,000.
