Women to Watch UK: A Book Arts Revolution

  • Event date 10 - 12 February
  • Event location London
Women to Watch UK: A Book Arts Revolution is an exhibition organised by UK Friends of the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) and presented at Christie’s.

Women to Watch is a long-running international programme initiated by the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington DC, which identifies and supports women artists at pivotal moments in their careers. Through a global network of outreach committees, the programme has helped bring increased visibility and institutional recognition to women artists working across diverse practices.

The 2026 UK exhibition focuses on contemporary book art, showcasing the work of five women artists who use the book as a central element of their practice. Through artists’ books, book objects, sculptural works and limited editions, the exhibition explores the book as material, structure and idea, challenging traditional notions of reading, authorship and narrative.

Following the exhibition, one artist will be selected to represent the UK in Women to Watch 2027: A Book Arts Revolution, the international exhibition at NMWA in Washington DC, marking a significant step in her professional trajectory.
