Lot Essay

The hollow-cornered mouldings of the commode doors feature on a number of patterns in Thomas Chippendale's Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker's Director, 1754. The mosaic-trellised glazing centred by lozenged compartments featured on a bookcase pattern op. cit., pl. LXIII.
