A PAIR OF MEISSEN GROUPS OF CUPID

Modelled scantily draped in flowered robes, one group with Cupid seated beside a plumed helmet drawing a sword from its scabbard held by his companion, the other group with Cupid leaning against a drum and his companion asleep on a drum at his side, a cornucopia of flowers at their feet, on shaped scroll-moulded bases applied with coloured flowers and enriched in gilding (four wings and one foot restored and one wing lacking, the second group with standing Cupid with right arm repaired at shoulder and with chips to front and back of base, some restoration and chipping to extremities), painter's mark V. in puce to both bases and with blue crossed swords marks at back of base
