The etching on the blade comprising foliated scrollwork and, on one face, a trophy and the royal arms, and on the other, the crowned 'GR' monogram, the standing figure of an officer and an oval cartouche with the maker's names, the hilt with cast and chased lion-head pommel and chequered ivory grip, in original leather scabbard (worn, chape missing) with gilt-copper mounts retaining traces of gilding and with two rings for suspension

The sword is that of an officer of militia or yeomanry. Wooley & Deakin were in partnership only during the period 1800-1803
