A 13-BORE OVER-AND-UNDER PERCUSSION BOX-LOCK BELT PISTOL

With case-hardened barrels and action made in one, the former engraved with a band of foliage at the muzzle, the latter engraved with scrollwork, fitted with engraved safety-catches, and signed on the top-strap, chequered walnut butt, silver escutcheon, scroll engraved case-hardened iron mounts including pommel with butt-trap, plain belt hook, stirrup ramrod, and much original finish (left hammer replaced), London proof marks

Lot Essay

The makers were a well-known Birmingham firm with a London agency recorded 1849-1861, re-organised as Isaac Hollis & Son 1861-1900. Colonel Peter Hawker records in his Diary a visit paid to their Birmingham works on 28 November 1849
