BIZEN OSAFUNE YASUMITSU WAKIZASHI AND KOSHIRAE
SIGNED BISHU OSAFUNE YASUMITSU, 15TH CENTURY
The blade, iorimune, honzukuri with large point (o-gissaki) and wide grooves (bo-hi) to each side slightly curved (sori), tightly forged ko-itame, strong bo-utsuri, tempered edge midare with niju-ba, ashi and yo in bright ko-nie, long turn back boshi, tang slightly suriage, signed Bishu Osafune Yasumitsu and dated Kakichi ninen nigatsu nichi, (1442), 38.7cm.; the Edo Higo mounts with mottled black ribbed scabbard with kaeri-tsuno and kurikata, the hilt leather bound with shakudo menuki in the form of recumbent deer, with iron fuchi-kashira, tsuba and umabari inlaid in gold silver nunome in Edo Higo style, shibuichi kozuka with a tiger in kebori, signed Enjo saku Mitsufusa and Kao, Mino Goto, mid Edo period (18th century).
