THE PROPERTY OF A DESCENDANT OF LADY DOROTHY NEVILLE (1826-1913)
Lady Dorothy Nevill was the youngest daughter of Horatio Walpole, 3rd Earl of Orford (1783-1858) and was a kinsman of Horace Walpole of Strawberry Hill. She was brought up at Wolterton Hall, Norfolk, the palladian house built by Horatio, 1st Baron Walpole in 1727, for whom she had a particular fascination. She was a celebrated and charismatic hostess, an author of memoires, illustrator, painter, gardener, traveller and collector, especially of objects connected with her illustrious kinsman.
