Lot Essay

Lady Caroline Stuart (died 1813), daughter of 3rd Earl of Bute and Mary, only daughter of Mary Wortley-Montagu, married John, 1st Earl of Portarlington (1744-1798) in 1778. For another portrait of this sitter see lot 103 and for a portrait of her third son, the Hon. George Dawson, see lot 121.
