Album containing approx. 250 photographs, albumen, platinum and gelatin silver prints, sizes approx. 2¾ x 3¾ in. to 6¾ x 5 in., occasional titles and numbers in the negatives, variously mounted, several titled in pencil on mounts; with printed text from the Amateur Photographer, Oct. 30, 1906 titled 'The Amateur Photographic Field Club', photomechanical reproductions mounted in and several photographs loosely inserted, inscribed F. Howard in pencil inside front cover, half morocco (lacking spine, disbound), ruled in gilt, large, 4to.

Lot Essay

The Photographic Field Club was regarded as one of the most influential photographic societies endeavouring to bring landscape to a prominent position in photography. The club was founded under it's proper name in 1865 but had existed under various forms prior to this date. In its limited roll of membership, names included several former members of the Camera Club such as H.P. Robinson and George Davison.
