Lot Essay

Very little is known about Benjamin R. Mulock except that he was taking photographs in Salvador between 1859 and 1861. In 1860 he started a business in Salvador, Bahia in Brazil where the photographer Francisco N. Bautz's studio had been located since 1857. His work was predominantly of street scenes. There is no record of him continuing his photographic career after 1861.
