A SOUTH GERMAN IVORY-INLAID, WALNUT, MARQUETRY AND PARQUETRY BUREAU-CABINET
The bow-fronted breakfront rectangular top and plain frieze above a central door with strapwork and engraved grotesque figure of a putto on a foliate stand, surmounted by a lambrequin canopy with floral swags, the interior with two long and six short drawers, flanked by two rows of six drawers, the sides banded with satinwood, above a writing-slope inlaid with a parrot on a foliate spray, further scrolls and strapwork, enclosing a fitted interior with three long and four short drawers and a well and three concave-sided drawers conformingly-inlaid, on a moulded base with later bracket feet, the cornice partially replaced and previously shaped, the top section with later back, minor losses, second quarter 18th Century and restored in the 19th Century with later ivory inlay
