The later rounded rectangular white marble top above a frieze mounted with swans and laurel wreaths, supported by scrolled eagle monopodiae, wrapped by ring-turned stiff-leaves, on a concave-sided canted rectangular plinth and later ball feet, with pilaster supports to the back, the marble with inscription to the underside K.NEAME

Lot Essay

The eagle-supports with their stiff-leaf clasps and claw-and-ball feet are related to a design for a wash-stand, which is illustrated in M. Wolfer, Modell- und Musterbuch für Bau- und Möbel-Tischler, Quedlinburg Leipzig, 1833, plate 60.
