Woven in wools, depicting a park landscape with courtly figures in the foreground and a hunting party to the left, the centre with an enclosed garden with hills beyond, the border with figures of virtues and pastoral scenes divided by vases of flowers and with architectural elements, within a later beige outer slip, areas of re-weaving

Lot Essay

A tapestry of identical subject, but with slight variations to the background, was sold anonymously at Sotheby's New York, 12 - 15 January 1991, lot 304.
