Oblong 2° (266 x 365mm). 29 ORIGINAL BOTANICAL DRAWINGS IN WATERCOLOUR AND GOUACHE BY ETHEL DIXIE, on thick card, mounted on guards, each specimen identified by its Linnean name. (Two detached from linen guards, a third slightly smaller and inserted.) Brown morocco gilt, g.e. (slightly scuffed).
FINE, BRILLIANTLY COLOURED DRAWINGS: the species represented are Disa (5 drawings); Protea (2); Gladiolus (5); Erica (5); and one each of Crassula; Ixia; Moroea; Anemone; Lachenalia; Babiana; Oxalis; Sparaxis; Amaryllis; Agapanthus; Nerine and Watsonia. Published examples of the artist's work are included in R.Marloth's Flowers of South Africa (1913-1932) and her work is also reproduced in Kennedy's Catalogue of Pictures in the Africana Museum.
