4° (192 x 148mm). Ruled in red. Woodcut publisher's device on title, engraved allegorical illustration, 5 double-page maps only (of 6, lacking the world map) and 76 miniature maps only (of 77, lacking map of America), engraved by Galle. (Small tears at folds of double-page maps, light soiling and staining to title.) Contemporary brown calf, tooled in blind, the panelled covers with blocked centrally-placed lozenge-shaped arabesque (ties lacking). Provenance: William Hall (of the Middle Temple, late 18th century ownership inscription); E.Vernon (presentation inscription to:); Rev.[?] Anderson.

First edition of the Epitome with Latin text, and the only edition to contain the slightly larger double-page maps by Galle. The maps are numbered 3-76 and 78-84. Numbers 1 and 2 (the world map and the map of America) are lacking, but no number 77 is called for. Koeman III, Ort 51.
