A Lower Austrian Zwischengold dated armorial tumbler by Johann Joseph Mildner

Of slightly flared cylindrical form, set with an oval double-walled medallion gilt on a ruby-ground with a coat-of-arms within a rope-twist and band border, the silver-foil reverse inscribed Verfertiget zu Gutenbrunn, im Fürnberger grossen Weinpergwald/1792/Von. Mildner, the rim with dot and star decoration above a faceted band, the footrim cut with thumb flutes, the base with a sunburst (slight deterioration to foil panel)

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Engl von and zu Wagrain in Styria, created Counts of the Holy Roman Empire in 1717.
