A Böttger silver-gilt mounted Goldchinesen hot-milk jug
Circa 1725
Of pear shape, decorated at Augsburg in the Seuter workshop with Orientals, one side with figures on a pier before ducks and an Oriental with a pipe, the other side with a figure before a brazier, another seated before a candle and another with a fly-swat, among trees and flowering plants on gilt scrollwork supports, the S-scroll handle, pointed spout and rims richly gilt, the domed cover with birds perched in branches and gilt knop finial (large restored chip to footrim, chip to spout, some rubbing to gilding), iron-red script goet, stamped EA to mount for Elias Adam and Augsburg town mark
