A Meissen chinoiserie bowl
Circa 1725
Of flared form and with everted rim, painted in the manner of J.G. Höroldt with elegant Orientals cooking and before a table with a candle and holding a parasol among furniture, a basket and shrubs within elaborate gilt, purple and iron-red ogival scroll cartouches flanked by indianische Blumen, the interior similarly decorated with an Oriental beside a willow tree and table within a similar cartouche and a richly gilt Laub-und-Bandelwerk border (two minute rim chips, minute ground footrim chip and some very slight wear to gilding), gilder's 98.
