The silvered dial signed and numbered T.S. & J.D. NEGUS New York. No. 1510, Roman hour numerals, outer chapters with five minute intermarkers, gold hour, minute and up-and-down hands, subsidiary seconds dial with blued steel hand, Earnshaw escapement, cut bimetallic balance, circular heat compensation weights, blued steel helical balance spring, spring foot detent with jewelled locking stone, electrical one-second, make/break contact assembly fitted to fourth wheel, brass bowl and gimbal in later plain three-tier light mahogany box with external brass drop handles, later key (numbered 550)

Lot Essay

The electrical contact assembly appears to be of an experimental type. A standard form of escapement spring detent (repaired) having a jewelled locking stone has been utilised to effect locking of a fifty-nine toothed wheel mounted on the fourth wheel arbor. The assembly is not functioning.
