Lot Essay

Pierre Reverdy (1889-1960) the celebrated French poet and one of the co-founders of Surrealism. This drawing was one of the four executed by Giacometti in 1962 after the death of the poet. These drawings were published in the same year as two portraits by Juan Gris and Picasso of Reverdy published in Hommage à Pierre Reverdy, by Mercure de France, Paris.
