Lot Essay

Gargallo crafted this sculpture of Kiki in his own unique style. His method of construction consisted of welding scraps of sheet metal together. Kiki was the first masque to be executed in bronze. It was cast, as were succeeding bronzes, in an edition of seven with an additional three artist's proofs.
