lithograph printed in olive-green, 1894, on smooth wove paper, a fine impression, with the artist's red monogram stamp (L. 1338), from the edition of 30 or 50 (Wittrock and Adriani record editions of 30 and 50 respectively), published by E. Kleinmann, Paris, with his blindstamp (L. 1573), with margins, a crayon stroke in the upper right margin, one or two soft creases in the margins, slight surface dirt at the sheet edges, otherwise generally in very good condition

Lot Essay

The two central characters in the play Les Cabotins (The Scoundrels) were played by Marthe Brandès and Leloir, who took the role of her husband; here they enact a scene in which each accuses the other of dubious origins.
