The present drawing is related, in reverse, to an oval print, part of the series Plusieurs têtes coiffées à la persienne, A. De Vesme, Stefano della Bella, New York, 1971, no. 192, illustrated. The series was published by Israel Henriet just before Stefano's move from Paris to Florence in 1650: one plate is dated 1650, another 1649.
A further rawing of a black page holding a horse is in the Louvre, F. Viatte, Inventaire général des dessins italiens: Dessins de Stefano della Bella, Paris, 1974, no. 203, illustrated. The latter is related to the series of the Cavaliers nègres, polonais et hongrois, De Vesme, op. cit., nos. 170-180, illustrated.
