The attribution has been suggested by Mary Newcome.
A drawing of comparable technique is in the National Gallery of Scotland, Edinburgh, inv. no. RSA 174, K. Andrews, National Gallery of Scotland, Catalogue of Italian Drawings, Cambridge, 1968, fig. 605.
Giuseppe Palmieri worked in France and in Sicily, but principally in Genoa.
