Inlaid overall en première and contre-partie with foliate arabesques, birds, baskets of fruit and acanthus lozenges of bérainesque style, the moulded rectangular brown leather-lined top enclosed within a foliate strapwork border, the central kneehole with a mahogany-lined drawer flanked by fluted panels and two further tiers of three graduated mahogany-lined drawers, the ends with raised rectangular panels inlaid with further bérainesque designs, the reverse similarly inlaid and with simulated drawers, on scrolled legs joined by waved, interlaced X-shaped stretchers and on toupie feet, the brass inlay distressed, with printed label to the underside 'CICERI & CO/Decorators/CARVERS AND GILDERS/Mirror Manufacturers and Plate Glass Merchants/ DEALERS IN PICTURES AND ARTICLES OF VERTU 57 FREDERICK STREET EDINBURGH'
