An Apulian gnathia ware epichysis

With two moulded faces applied to the side of the handle where it joins the neck, dots above band of ovolo and chevron band divided by double incised lines around base of neck, the shoulder with female head in profile wearing sakkos, earrings and necklace, painted in great detail with added yellow and dilute paint, to either side of her elaborate spiralling tendrils with flowers, on the body below her and above foot a band of incised ovolo between double incised lines framing broad foliate wreath with alternating red and white leaves and central rosette, (intact); and an Apulian gnathia ware oinochoe, the black glazed trefoil-lipped oinochoe with ring foot, underside reserved, body black glazed except for reserved band above foot, on the neck decorative bands of incised ovolo, chevrons and dots between double incised lines, on the body a female head in profile above double dotted ground line, to the left a wreath and pomegranate, to the right a vine leaf and foliate branch, the head white with red glaze for hair, dilute glaze and white detail, yellow and white for ornament, (intact)
