TIBET Early and Historical Letters
cover 1792 (Water Mouse Year) edict issued by the Ministry of Defence addressed to Officers of the"Tinkye-Dzong" announcing that if any member of their family joins the Army the family will receive a 50 tax exemption, showing Ministry seal in black and Dalai Lama seal in red; a footnote in a different hand to the main letter exhorts Tax Officers to obey the above exemption order as "China has already reached an agreement with Nepal", it was apparently written in 1797; some peripheral paper faults (not affecting text) as is to be expected with such an ancient and delicate document. An important two seal item connected to an interesting period of time in Tibet's history. Photo
