The action-bodies, lockplates and furniture relief-engraved with bold foliate-scrolls on a matt ground, the undersides of the action-bodies embellished with the head of a lion, the triggerplates signed 'S. J. Kelly', cocking-indicators, bright cyanide-hardened finish overall, well-figured stocks, the chopper-lump barrels with game-ribs
Weight 6lb. 5oz., 14 3/8in. stocks, 28in. barrels, choke approx. ¼ & 5/8 (No. 1) and I.C. & full (No. 2), 2½in. chambers, nitro proof

The makers have kindly confirmed that the guns were completed in 1980. They appear to have been little used. Stephen Kelly is Purdey's leading in-house engraver. He was entirely Purdey-trained and his work remains exclusive to that maker
