Lot Essay

The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was started on 14th December 1905 and that it remained for many years 'in the white' as a barrelled-action. The gun was subsequently finished in 1924 for an Exhibition held in that year, the completion date being 30th March 1924. The engraver, Harry Tomlinson, was the engraver of Greener's celebrated 'St. George' Exhibition gun and the design work was carried out to Mr. H. Greener's specifications. Sadly, the right barrel-thickness is now much reduced and the gun is therefore sold as unsuitable for use
