Lot Essay

Although the unusual shaped bracket feet, rounded blocks of the lopers and candle-slides, flat construction of the drawerfronts, and extravagant use of mahogany at the top of the base are consistent with a Chinese centre of manufacture, the use of oak rather than hardwood drawer-linings may infact suggest a non-Chinese origin for this bureau-cabinet.
