Of olive-green tint with an irridescence, the seal with a crest (a fox passant with dexter paw raised beneath a baron's coronet), with short tapering neck, string-ring and kick-in base
5 1/8in. (13cm.) high

Lot Essay

The crest is that of Pierpont or Pierrepont, see Roger Dumbrell, op. cit., p. 219 and p. 69, fig. 69 for the seal.
