The ivory field scattered with floral sprays around figural scenes including polo players, ploughing and an encampment, in a royal blue border of flowering trees and stylised mountains around depictions from the Persian epics including Leyla and Majnun, Bahram Gur hunting and Fitna and the cow, between an inner burgundy stripe of ochre inscription cartouches containing verses and the signature of the weaver: Isma'il Aqa Baba Karkhane Kashan, and an outer ochre meandering flowering vine and arabesque stripe, outer plain burgundy stripe, a short kilim strip at one end, excellent condition
