Lot Essay

Compare with a silver casket by Walter Gilbert, mounted with similar winged figures illustrated: The Studio, Vol. XXVIII, 1903, p.184.
Compare also the treatment of the nude winged figures on this piece with those by Alexander Fisher on his 'Aphrodite' electric light sconce and winged bronze figure, (also produced in silver), both illustrated: The Studio, Vol. XXXV, 1905, p. 63.
