An unusual enamel snuff-box
circa 1765
Formed as a drum, the sides painted with a coronet between two elaborate military trophies, the orange-red sides encased in simulated cords between deep blue enamel borders, the hinged cover and base enamelled in cream, with gilt-metal mount, and a Bilston oval enamel patch-box, the white ground cover inscribed 'Though Absent Not Forgotten' with two lovebirds perched in hearts, with crimped light blue sides and mirrored interior, circa 1800
