The tonkotsu carved in relief with Okame disguised as Daruma, the reverse with the inscriptions Mempeki and a hossu, kiseruzutsu carved with Ikkaku Sennin with a pine branch, a metal ojime modelled as Daruma, signed Tenmin
tonkotsu, 7.5cm. wide and kiseruzutsu, 20cm. long

Lot Essay

Mempeki, literally translated, means "Facing the fall". It refers to the 9 year period of meditation by Daruma, the founder of the Zen Sect of Buddhism.
