on piece 1861 (6 Apr.) top half of an envelope bearing 1857-58 Richardson 6d. chestnut (small faults) tied by "9" obliterator. Written on the flap is a contemporary view of the peace terms following the first Taranaki War... "Terms offered to Ngatiawa have been published, have given great dissatisfaction to the settlers. Genl. Cameron has arrived to take the Command: so we may hope for something more creditable to British honour than under the former fumbler."
