An Indian Pata; a Persian all-steel axe; a Nepalese Kora; an Abyssinian Shotel; and two circular steel Dhals
The first probably 18th century, the remainder 19th century
The first with double-edged blade, and solid iron hilt chiselled with foliage; the second with concentric axe-blade cut on each side with shaped panels of foliage, peen shaped on a stylized monster-head, central spike, and iron haft; the third of characteristic form with heavy single-edged 'fish-tail' blade, iron hilt with knuckle-guard, chequered grip, and disc-shaped pommel; the fourth with deeply curved double-edged blade and waisted horn hilt, in original leather scabbard with belt; the last each fitted with four bosses on the outside, one decorated on the outside with panels of chiselled foliage and Persian verses, the other damascened with silver foliage
