A VIENNESE ORMOLU MANTEL CLOCK
The glazed white enamel dial, with Arabic chapters inscribed 'FRANZ MAYER IN WIEN', the two-day movement with verge escapement and grande savonnerie strike on two gongs, in a drum case with engine-turned and anthemion bands surmounted by a figure of a maiden holding a bunch of flowers, supported on two griffins with foliate tails, on a concave-sided canted rectangular plinth with chequer surface and lappeted serpentine band, on bun feet, the feet with variations and probably associated, the flower-spray associated, the ormolu base with four circular holes, probably casting flaws
