AN ORMOLU-MOUNTED CORNE VERTE BRACKET CLOCK
The circular part-enamelled dial with Roman and Arabic chapters, inscribed 'P.F. LE DOUX A PARIS', the going barrel movement with verge escapement, pull quarter repeat removed, the arched glazed door with gadrooned border centred by a scantily-draped maiden within foliage, the body with C-scrolls and foliage surmounted by a tapering stepped dome and a youth wearing a plumed hat and holding a bird, on scrolling foliate feet and a tapering bracket with espagnolette masks to the angles and floral swags centred by C-scrolls and terminating in a scrolling cabochon boss, one key, one winder and pendulum, the youth lacking a further ornament

Lot Essay

Pierre-François Ledoux, maître in 1758, worked in the rue St. André-des Arts and died in 1792.
A related bracket clock with movement by Antoine Pelletier was sold anonymously at Loudmer, Paris, 18 December 1995, lot 115.
