A FRENCH POLYCHROME-DECORATED AND PARCEL-GILT JAPONAISERIE ETAGERE
Late 19th early 20th Century
The canted rectangular top with triangular outset sections to each side decorated with a flowering branch and a perched eagle and with pierced ormolu gallery, above four simulated bamboo supports joined by a conforming undertier and on conforming feet
22 in. (56 cm.) wide; 29 in. (73.5 cm.) high; 18 in. (46 cm.) deep

A closely related Japonaiserie étagère is illustrated in C. Payne, 19th Century European Furniture, Woodbridge, 1985, p. 238, fig. 727, and a pair of étagères was sold from the property of the Duques de Cadaval in these Rooms, 14 March 1996, lot 141.
