A DUTCH WALNUT AND FLORAL MARQUETRY BUREAU-CABINET
19th Century
Inlaid overall with vases of flowers, acanthus scrolls, birds, butterflies and floral marquetry, the double-domed overhanging cornice with gadrooned and plumed finial above two shaped doors with a shaped plate, enclosing two adjustable shelves and three variously-sized shaped drawers, the bureau enclosing various wells and a slide concealing a further well and three hidden drawers, above two short and two graduated long drawers between shaped angles and on paw feet, minor restorations

Lot Essay

A bureau-cabinet with identical plumed finials and similar shaped glazed doors was sold anonymously at Sotheby's London, 22 April 1966, lot 195.
