BOULANGER, Nadia (1887-1979). A series of approximately forty-two autograph letters signed, some typed, mainly to Edward and Hester Pickman, Santa Barbara and Paris, circa 1943-1978, in French and English, concerning inter alia proposals for the Lili Boulanger Memorial Fund and a copy of the articles of the fund, various sizes. The series of letters covers a wide range of subjects of mutual interest to Nadia Boulanger and the author Edward Pickman, who wrote principally on history and religion. The Lili Boulanger Memorial Fund was set up in memory of Nadia's sister, who was the first woman to win the Prix de Rome in 1913 with her cantata Faust et Hélène. Sadly her early promise was curtailed by her death at the young age of 25.
