The present work is related to a series of drawings from 1920-21 of an old man or 'Cabby' seated in an armchair, wearing an overcoat and holding a hat. A very similar pose is depicted as no.471 in W. Michel, Wyndham Lewis Paintings and Drawings, London, 1971, pl.51.
